Interview of Trine (Denmark)

Here's the interview of Trine KN from Denmark, she came in belgium at FACTS some weeks ago, and I met her at her table !

1. For how long have you been in cosplay ?

I have been cosplaying for 7 years this summer.

2. Cosplay is a time consuming hobby. how long does it take to craft your costumes ?

It very much depends on the cosplay and amount of details but in general I would say 200-1000 hours.

3. Any other hobby or passion besides cosplaying ?

Not so much currently but I do digital art and love to play video games.

4. What materials are you using for cosplay crafting, worbla ? Foam ?

I mostly work with foam, worbla and fabric.

5. Do you have any favorite cosplayer ?

Oh I have many! Lightning cosplay, Maul cosplay, Jessica Nigri and LittleJem.

6. Did you hurt yourself while making a cosplay or in a convention ?

I often cut or burn myself when making cosplay. At conventions it's usually just my feet that get hurt because I wear shoes that are too small.

7. Do you sell your old cosplays, or just keep it in a huge closet ?

I mostly keep them, rarely sell them.

8. Who teached you to craft your cosplays ? Your family ? By reading books or watching youtube tutorials ?

YouTube 100%! And just trying stuff at home.

9. Which conventions are you going to this year ?

Närcon, Dreamhack summer and maybe MCM London or Blizzcon if it will happen this year.

10. What is your limit budget for a cosplay ?

I don't really have one, it depends on what I need to use the cosplay for. I would say 1000 Euro is my max perhaps.

11. Any future super secret cosplay project in mind ?

No secret ones but Pukei Pukei armor and Elizabeth Swann from PotC.

12. What are you doing in "real" life for a living ?

60% Etsy and 40% fast food just to survive. I want to be independent and live off of Etsy which is what I am working towards.

13. You best experience from a convention ? And your worst ?

I cant choose a single one but winning competitions, being a guest and meeting friends from online is always wonderful. Worst might be an awkward conversation with a danish "fan" who kept wanting my attention.

14. Any advice for cosplay wannabees or beginners ?

YouTube is your friend! Learn from there and by looking at other people's cosplays.

15. Do you have limits ? Some cosplays you will never make ?

My only limit is space. I dont have a warehouse etc. to put my cosplays in so storing them is a big issue.
