Interview of Pale and Nerdy (Belgium)

Here is the interview of a duo, a couple in fact. It's Pale & Nerdy and I met them in a convention, at FACTS in Ghent this year. I asked them for interview, and it all went quickly after that. Thanks to them !

1. For how long have you been in cosplay ? You started it together ?

Pale has been cosplaying for 3 years, together we have been cosplaying for plus minus a year.

2. Usually, how long does it take to craft your costumes ?

Depends on the material and how many hours in a day we have time to spend on it. If you have a week off from work, a cosplay can be completely done in 7 days.

3. Do you have other hobbies or passion when you are not cosplaying ?

Nerdy loves comics, movies, and working out, Pale paints and draws and loves spooky YouTube videos.

4. What materials are you using to create your cosplay clothes and your props ? Where did you learn these skills ?

Material wise we aren’t very professional in the sense that we just use whatever we think will work or whatever we can get for a reasonable price. We also never read a book on this, have had no lessons in anything and just love trial and error.

5. Do you have any favorite cosplayers ?

That’s hard cause, we don’t really fangirl over one person, we just love to be wowed by people we run into at cons. That could be anyone ! Skill wise Alyson Tabitha is really cool cause she has a similar style (whatever you can find and facial transformation makeup) as us, which is always cool to see.

6. Which conventions are you going to attend in the near future ?

DCC Utrecht us the next one !

7. Can you talk a little bit about your future cosplay projects ?

Currently, for DCC, we are finishing the last embroidery etc. for the Joaquin Phoenix joker. In the future we would like to do a Wolverine and Rogue and maybe a Loki and female Thor. 

8. What are you doing in "real" life for a living ?

Nerdy works for a comic book company and Pale is a manager in retail. Both full time.

9. What is your best experience from a convention ? And your worst ?

Oh the best one is meeting each other hands down ! I (Pale) was working for Brussels comic con and dressed as Jerome Valeska (not a genderbend, full on genderswap, binding and everything lol) and Nerdy called out the character, then we started talking and the rest was history ! Worst : Pale got groped in between the legs by a deadpool cosplayer once. Cosplay is not consent ! 

10. Do you have limits ? Some cosplays that you would never make ?

Oh fuck that ! “You can’t do that” is not in our book !
